Letter: Your View - Tasteless Take on Education ; Comment OF THE DAY

SO McDonald's are now offering A-Levels. I was under the impression that was what the schools did.

Is this Labour's "education, education, education" policy on the cheap or is it a throwback to the days of Mrs Thatcher's policy of scrapping apprenticeships?

It was obvious that scrapping apprenticeships was the first step on the road to economic ruin. It has now come back to haunt us.

We all need to be educated but I question whether McDonald's is the right place to do it when one in six adults cannot achieve the literacy standards expected of an 11-year-old.

Perhaps Mr Brown would rather our schools got actively involved in the science of frying chips? That would, of course, be cheaper.
