Feds Arrest Rezko, Who Had Ties to Obama

Federal agents took Rezko into custody from his Wilmette home Monday on an alleged bond violation, the Chicago Tribune reported. Investigators recently had become concerned about some of his finances, sources told the newspaper.

Rezko's attorney, Joseph Duffy, said any activity involving his client's finances had been supervised by attorneys helping him with his debts.

I'm confused, he said. We're waiting to hear more."

Rezko, a one-time adviser and fundraiser for Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich, is scheduled to go to trial on corruption charges soon. He allegedly used relationships with top Illinois state officials to extort companies wanting to do business with two state boards.

Rezko become an issue in the presidential campaign because of his association with Illinois Sen. Obama. It had been reported Obama received about $200,000 in contributions from Rezko and has returned about $85,000. Feds Arrest Rezko, Who Had Ties to Obama
