Olsen: Ledger's Death a 'Tragic Loss'

Through a statement released Friday by her representative, the 21-year-old actress told People magazine her best wishes were with the family of the Brokeback Mountain star following his death this week.

Heath was a friend. His death is a tragic loss. My thoughts are with his family during this very difficult time, Olsen said.

The former Full House actress and Ledger had previously been romantically linked by one entertainment source. The actress was one of the first people to learn of his untimely death Tuesday.

Ledger's body was found in his New York apartment by a masseuse and Olsen was contacted within two hours, the Detroit Free Press said Friday.

While the official cause of Ledger's death had yet to be determined, the Free Press reported police suspect it may have been from an accidental overdose of prescription medication. Olsen: Ledger's Death a 'Tragic Loss'
