Taiwan Science Park Joins Asian Science Park Association

Taipei, Jan. 24 (CNA) - The Central Taiwan Science Park has been admitted to the Asian Science Park Association (ASPA), an organization headquartered in South Korea to promote development among science parks in Asia, a spokesman for the science parks' administration said Thursday.

ASPA Chairman Lee Jong-hyun visited the Central Taiwan Science Park Wednesday and delivered the certificate of membership to Yang Wen-ko, director-general of the science park administration, to acknowledge its new membership status.

The two sides also signed a memorandum of understanding in preparation for their future cooperation, the spokesman said.

The ASPA has over 50 members from Asian countries. Taiwan's Hsinchu Science Park in the north, Southern Taiwan Science Park, and the Industrial Technology Research Institute headquartered innorthern Taiwan are also ASPA members.

ASPA members will have the chance to meet science park professionals from around Asia and an opportunity to exchange ideas and share experiences with science park directors and managers, the spokesman said.

They can also contact science park experts through ASPA's membership directory for professional advice or consulting, and receive support from the organization to promote conferences and seminars, the spokesman said.
