Record Label: Winehouse is in Rehab

Record Label: Winehouse is in Rehab

Jan 24, 03:37 PM

Amy Winehouse's record company has confirmed the troubled British pop singer entered a rehab facility Thursday.

The announcement comes after media reports earlier this week erroneously said she had checked into a drug rehabilitation program, following the release of video on the Internet that allegedly shows her smoking a crack pipe.

Police in London said they are reviewing the tape and The Sun newspaper's report that Winehouse also consumed ecstasy, cocaine and valium during a binge.

Amy decided to enter the facility today after talks with her record label, management, family and doctors, said a statement issued by Universal Music Group to People.com. She has come to understand that she requires specialist treatment to continue her ongoing recovery from drug addiction and prepare for her planned appearance at the Grammy Awards.

The label emphasized Winehouse continues to receive the full support of all concerned.

Amy is the most talented and important musical artist of her generation and has made huge strides on her road to recovery. Universal Music Group wants nothing more than to see her take the time she needs to come back to full health and fulfill her incredible potential with the label, the statement said.
