I WANT to thank Gordon Brown for his brave call for compulsory organ donation when it was so obvious his political enemies would beat him with the Big Brother stick.

Thousands of Britons are dying needlessly because fewer than 13 in every million of us are donating our organs. Someone very close to me may need a transplant in the future and the thought of them missing out while organs are incinerated is heartbreaking.
