SONY claimed victory in the DVD war as movie giant Warner Bros backed its Blu-ray system.

The company - which makes the Harry Potter films (pictured) - said it would stop releasing films in the rival HD DVD format developed by Toshiba from April.

Walt Disney, Twentieth Century Fox, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and Sony Pictures have already chosen Blu-ray, giving it dominance in the market.
