Pray for Britney ; Mum's Plea to Fans As Star is Kept in Hospital

THE mother of troubled Britney Spears yesterday begged the singer's fans to pray for her.

Lynne Spears' plea to "just say prayers" came as a judge banned the fallen star from seeing her children.

As Britney remained in hospital following an apparent breakdown, the Los Angeles judge suspended her right of access to one-year-old Jayden James and Sean Preston, two.

The latest blow follows a threehour police siege at Britney's Beverly Hills home on Thursday, when she refused to hand back her sons to ex-husband Kevin Federline following a visit.

The 26-year-old singer was eventually removed in a stretcher and taken for emergency psychiatric treatment by paramedics.

She is now on suicide watch at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre in Los Angeles.

Federline has been handed sole custody of their sons.

After the 30-minute, emergency, closed-doors hearing at LA Superior Court, Federline's lawyer, Mark Kaplan, said: "I'm not happy about these events. There are no winners here."

County Commissioner Scott Gordon has ordered a further hearing on January 14.

It is the latest blow for the singer, who lost custody of the children in October after repeatedly defying court orders.

Although she called for fans' prayers, Lynne Spears refused to discuss her daughter's condition. During Thursday's siege, Britney is reported to have barricaded herself and Jayden into a room after allowing Sean to leave with a court-appointed monitor.

Despite reports that she had been under the influence of drink or drugs, a police spokewoman said: "Our understanding is that was not the case."

It has now emerged that she is under a "5150 hold" at the hospital. This means staff believe there is evidence she is a danger to herself or others.

Jayden was taken to hospital after the standoff and was examined by doctors amid reports that he was bruised. But sources said he had nothing apart from "normal scrapes and rashes little kids have".

Until now, Britney has been allowed monitored visits with the children, on the condition that she submits to random drugs tests.

Federline, 29, is thought to have collected the boys after the incident and taken them to his house.

Britney wed former dancer and would-be rapper Federline in October 2004, three months after they met. They divorced last July.

After a spell in rehab, Spears released a new album in October, which led to her first No.1 hit in years with Gimme More.
