Current Headlines: Oprah Winfrey is praising the way the police in South Africa handled their investigation of abuse claims at her girls' school, People.com reported.

Winfrey issued a statement in response to the arrest of a suspect following an investigation into alleged sexual and physical abuse at the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls in Henley-on-Klip, near Johannesburg.

The unidentified suspect is scheduled to appear in court Monday.

I'd like to thank the South African Police Services for bringing this investigation at my Academy to a timely resolution, Winfrey said in the statement.

I am grateful for their compassion and sensitivity to the girls during this difficult time. It means the world to me, she said. It is my deepest hope that the accused is brought to justice and that this serves as a reminder that any time a child has the courage to step forward, it is our duty as adults to listen and take immediate action.
