Current Headlines:

Denver, CO (Sports Network) - The Boston Red Sox continue to lead the Colorado Rockies after six innings in Game 3 of the World Series at Coors Field, 6-2.

Boston starting pitcher Daisuke Matsuzaka allowed two runs on three hits with five strikeouts and four walks over 5 1/3 innings, and his two-run single highlighted a six-run third inning that has put the Red Sox in the driver's seat.

Jacoby Ellsbury has three hits and an RBI and Mike Lowell has a pair of RBI for Boston, which is looking to take a 3-0 series lead.

Brad Hawpe and Yorvit Torrealba have each driven in a run for the Rockies, who scored a pair of runs in the sixth.

Boston struck in the third inning against Colorado starting pitcher Josh Fogg. Ellsbury began the frame with a double down the left field line and advanced to third when Dustin Pedroia reached on a bunt.

Pedroia was attempting a sacrifice, but Rockies catcher Torrealba was a little slow getting to the ball that he should have allowed Fogg to field instead of calling him off, and as a result the throw was high.

David Ortiz, starting the game at first base instead of Kevin Youkilis, then laced a double to right, scoring Ellsbury, and after Manny Ramirez was intentionally walked to load the bases, Lowell came through with a two-run single for a 3-0 lead.

Later in the inning, Ramirez was thrown out at the plate on a Jason Varitek base hit for the second out, but that didn't slow the rally. Julio Lugo then walked to load the bases for Matsuzaka, who registered his first career hit with a two-run single.

Ellsbury followed with an RBI single for a 6-0 lead, chasing Fogg from the game in favor of Franklin Morales, who got Pedroia to ground out to third to end the rally.

Fogg was charged with six runs on 10 hits, striking out two and walking two, over 2 2/3 innings.

Colorado finally got on the board in the sixth. With one out, Todd Helton and Garrett Atkins each worked walks off Matsuzaka, forcing the right-hander from the game in favor of Javier Lopez.

Hawpe greeted Lopez with an RBI single and Torrealba followed with a run- scoring base hit to make it a 6-2 contest. Mike Timlin then came on for the Red Sox and got pinch-hitter Ryan Spilborghs to fly out to the wall in center field and Lugo made a tremendous leaping catch to rob pinch-hitter Jeff Baker of a hit to end the inning.
