Obama Promises to Go After Clinton

Oct 27, 10:31 PM

Current Headlines: Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., says he will challenge Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., on Iraq and Social Security in their campaign for president.

Obama, in an interview Friday, told The New York Times he does not want to kneecap his Senate colleague and rival for the Democratic presidential nomination, but he said Clinton has not been completely honest.

I don't think people know what her agenda is, she said.

Clinton has been the Democratic front-runner through most of the campaign so far. Obama has gone from being a crowd-pleasing new face to a candidate many see as inexperienced and timid, the newspaper said.

In Iowa, Obama went after Clinton on Social Security, The Des Moines Register reported. He advocated increasing taxes on those with very high incomes to deal with the likely shortfall as baby boomers retire.

He charged Clinton has not said anything on what she would do to resolve Social Security's problem.

She's not alone in avoiding answering this question, not alone in ducking the issue, Obama told a small crowd at a Des Moines senior center.
