Marubeni Ups FY 2007 Earnings Estimates

Current Headlines: Tokyo, Oct. 26 (Jiji Press)--Marubeni Corp. said Friday that it has raised its group earnings projections for fiscal 2007 due to the robust performances of its energy and natural resources businesses reflecting growing demand worldwide.

For the year ending next March, the major trader now estimates net profit at 145 billion yen, up from the earlier projected 135 billion yen.

The operating profit estimate now stands at 188 billion yen, up from 180 billion yen, on estimated sales of 10.7 trillion yen, up from 10.5 trillion yen.

Marubeni is also enjoying strong earnings at its machinery and paper-pulp divisions, company officials said.

In the April-September first half, the company generated a group net profit of 80,336 million yen, up 22.4 pct from a year before, thanks to the brisk performances of its energy and metals businesses.

Operating profit rose 5.2 pct to 95,601 million yen, and sales grew 8.8 pct to 5,096,961 million yen. [EARNINGS]END
