Spears' Hit-and-Run Charge Dropped

Current Headlines: The Los Angeles City Attorney dismissed hit-and-run charges against pop star Britney Spears, TMZ.com reported Thursday.

Spears was accused of hitting a parked car in a Studio City lot on Aug. 6, then driving away without leaving a note for its owner.

The charge was dismissed in court Thursday after the judge was informed Spears settled the dispute with the car's owner. Spears reportedly paid the owner about $1,000, plus car rental fees, TMZ.com said.

She pleaded innocent to the criminal charge of driving without a California license.

The singer has been ordered to appear in court on Nov. 26. She also has a hearing in her child custody case that same day, TMZ.com said.
