Jackman, Wife Disappointed About 'Viva'

Current Headlines: Deborra-Lee Furness says she and husband/business partner Hugh Jackman are disappointed CBS canceled their U.S. series, Viva Laughlin.

The network yanked the musical TV drama -- the first project for the couple's production company, Seed -- after two episodes. CBS blamed low ratings for the quick death of the U.S. show inspired by the popular BBC series Blackpool.

In Australia, Viva Laughlin was axed after only one episode.

We are obviously very disappointed, but you have to take risks in this business, Furness told The Sydney Morning Herald. Doing a drama that is a musical is going to be a huge risk.

Furness said she and Jackman had hoped CBS would give the show more time to attract viewers.

I think it takes a while for us to get used to things, she said. (Jackman) did it for fun. It's our first TV series and he jumped in. Have you seen him? He was fabulous. Yeah, hey that's showbiz. The fact that it got canceled after two shows, it happened fast and you've just got to dust your knees off and get on to the next one. We're still looking at scripts and still developing and you just keep going.
