Dialogue Between Caspian Sea States Must Become Regular - Putin

Current Headlines: TEHRAN. Oct 16 (Interfax) - President Vladimir Putin has suggested making regular the top-level dialogue between Caspian Sea countries (Russia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Iran).

"Russia has always supported dialogue in this format on a regular basis. Today this approach is being carried out into life," he said at the second summit of Caspian littoral countries in Tehran.

Putin said that the draft of the final declaration calls for regular meetings between the heads of Caspian littoral countries and in the intervals between them - the foreign ministers.

"I am sure that such a mechanism will help tackle and resolve all arising regional problems in the framework of the Caspian Five and more importantly it will open up new opportunities for advancing mutually beneficial cooperation and partnership in the Caspian," he said.

"The deepening of neighborly relations with Caspian states is one of Russia's foreign policy priorities," he said.
