High-Profile Japanese Architect Kurokawa Dies at 73

Current Headlines: Tokyo, Oct. 12 (Jiji Press)--High-profile Japanese architect Kisho Kurokawa died of heart failure at a hospital in Tokyo on Friday. He was 73.

Born in Nagoya, central Japan, Kurokawa graduated from Kyoto University and went to the graduate school of the University of Tokyo, where he studied under well-known architect Kenzo Tange.

Since starting his career as an architect in 1962, Kurokawa has designed many famous buildings both in Japan and abroad, including the National Museum of Ethnology in Osaka, western Japan.

He has received design requests from more than 20 countries around the world and participated in large-scale national projects such as the construction o fKuala Lumpur International Airport in Malaysia.END
