Six Die in Pizza Party Massacre

Current Headlines: AN OFF-duty sheriff's deputy went on a shooting rampage at a US home where seven young people had gathered for pizza and movies, killing six and critically injuring the other before authorities shot him dead.

Tyler Peterson, 20, was a Forest County deputy sheriff in Wisconsin and worked part-time as a police officer, said police chief John Dennee.

Three of the victims were former classmates of his at high school in the small northern Wisconsin town of Crandon.

A Crandon police officer who fired back at Peterson was treated for minor injuries.

Mayor Gary Bradley said Peterson was shot by a sniper.

It was not clear what the gunman's motive was, but the mother of a 14-year-old victim said Peterson may have been a jealous boyfriend.
