Current Headlines: A BRITISH scientist was today awarded a Nobel Prize for medicine for his work on identifying genes.

Martin Evans of Cardiff University was part of a team that created "knockout mice" which researchers use to discover how to turn on or off genes which mice and humans share, allowing them to understand their purpose and role in illnesses such as cystic fibrosis, heart disease, diabetes and cancer..
