SIX teenagers were killed when a part-time cop opened fire on a house party yesterday.

The shootings happened at about 3am in the small town of Crandon, Wisconsin, which was sealed off as a manhunt was launched for the gunman.

The 2000 residents were ordered to stay in their homes throughout the morning.

Last night, reports said the man, named locally as Forest County sheriff's deputy Tyler Peterson, had been shot dead by police outside the town.

Two of the party victims were pupils at Crandon High School, while the other four were recent graduates. Locals said about 10 young people were at the party.

Police chief John Dennee would not confirm reports the suspect was dead but said: "We're not looking for anybody any more."
