ACTRESS Lindsay Lohan is staying in a remote hill cabin after checking out of a rehab clinic.

The 21-year-old left the exclusive clinic on Friday following two months of treatment for drink ad drug addiction.

She has now shut herself away in a cabin in Utah with her father Michael.

Lohan's mother Dina said: "I'm proud of her. Things were getting out of control. She took action."

Dad Michael added: "I will be there in her life as best I can. But from here on, she's going to have a lot of decisions to make on her own.

"Now that she is going out into the world, I can only hope for the best."

In August, Lohan admitted her life had become "completely unmanageable" because she was "addicted to alcohol and drugs".

A month earlier, she had been arrested for drink-driving.

And weeks before that, she was lifted for losing control of her car and hitting a kerb in Beverly Hills, California.

In both cases, the actress was found to be in possession of cocaine.

In August, Lohan was sentenced to one day in jail after pleading guilty to drink driving and drug charges.

She was also put on three years' probation and ordered to perform community service and complete a drug treatment programme.

Before going into the Cirque Lodge Treatment Centre in Sundance, Utah, Lohan issued a statement saying she was "ashamed" of her actions.

The actress hit the big time aged 11 in The Parent Trap. She also starred in Freaky Friday, Mean Girls and Herbie: Fully Loaded.

Lohan quickly gained a reputation as a wild child and she was constantly in gossip columns for her wild partying. She has spent several spells in rehab.
