Hanson Expected to Make Full Recovery

Oct 05, 10:22 AM

Current Headlines: Isaac Hanson, the oldest member of the U.S. brother band Hanson, has undergone surgery for a life-threatening pulmonary embolism.

The surgery went well and he is expected to continue performing on Hanson's Walk Tour

as early as next week.

Everyone in the Hanson camp are very pleased with the outcome of Isaac's surgery, the band's representative, Ken Phillips, told People.com. Isaac, Taylor and Zac are all looking forward to getting back out on the road doing what they love best, performing.

The life-saving surgery was performed by Dr. Bradley Grimsley, who was extremely satisfied with the results and expects Isaac to make a full and swift recovery.

The 26-year-old guitarist was hospitalized Tuesday night after suffering severe shoulder and chest pains after a show.

He underwent surgery to treat a form of pulmonary embolism called Paget-Schroeder Syndrome, in which arteries from the heart are constricted and cause potentially fatal blood clots in the lungs, People said.

Hanson is now recovering at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas.
