Report: U.S. Claims Against Iran Dismissed

Aug 30, 11:55 AM

Current Headlines: A senior Iranian official says the International Atomic Energy Agency has dismissed all unfounded U.S. allegations against Iran.

Deputy Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council for International Affairs Mohammad Saeedi made his remarks as IAEA Director-General Mohamed ElBaradei presented a new report to the agency's board of governors Thursday, Iran's Islamic Republic News Agency reported.

Although the 35-member board will consider the report at meetings beginning in Vienna on Sept. 10, the document is not expected to be released to the public.

The U.S., at a time, deceived the world with respect to Iran's peaceful nuclear activities by claiming that Tehran has conducted separation activities and reprocessing plutonium, Saeedi told IRNA.

But today, the IAEA, based on its firm assessment regarding the settlement of (the) plutonium case in Iran, gave a negative response to the most important U.S. claim and invalidated their claims.

Saeedi also said Iran and the IAEA are developing a plan to resolve outstanding issues, while IAEA inspectors are making regular visits to Iran's nuclear sites.

Following an initiative by Iran's Ali Larijani, Tehran officials and the IAEA resumed talks on July 11.
