Police Log Confirms Wilson's Suicide Attempt

Aug 29, 08:50 PM

Current Headlines: Police were called to Hollywood hotshot Owen Wilson's Santa Monica home over the weekend because of an attempted suicide, a police log confirms.

The log doesn't indicate who made the call Sunday at 12:08 p.m., but lists "attempt suicide" as the reason, according to the tabloid show, "Extra," which broke the news on its Web site yesterday.

Wilson, a native Texan, remained at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles yesterday but hospital officials refused to release updated information. On Monday, the "Wedding Crashers" star was said to be listed in "good condition."

The actor's publicist, Ina Treciokas, declined to answer questions yesterday about whether Wilson attempted to take his life.

According to the New York Post, the affable actor may have lost it over the weekend after a "vicious quarrel" with a close friend. However, it's unclear who that person may be.

There's also speculation that Wilson is still reeling from his break-up with "You, Me and Dupree" co-star Kate Hudson who cut him loose in May. Hudson, accompanied by boyfriend of the mo Dax Shepard, is in Boston for the next few weeks filming "Bachelor No. 2."

As you are all too aware, Wilson, 38, was initially taken by ambulance from his home to Saint John's Health Center in Santa Monica - where, coincidentally, Tom Brady's baby was born last week. Wilson was later transferred to Cedars-Sinai.

"Extra" reported that Wilson's younger brother, "Vacancy" star Luke Wilson, found his sib in a state and placed the call to 911. Since being hospitalized, Wilson has been visited by big bro, Andrew, and actor pal Samuel L. Jackson.

Wilson's sudden hospitalization has caused a couple of Tinseltown studios to scramble.

DreamWorks Pictures said in a statement that filming continues in Hawaii on "Tropic Thunder," a comedy starring Wilson. The studio offered no details on whether Wilson's role in the Ben Stiller- directed flick, which he was scheduled to begin shooting in the coming weeks, would be recast.

It was also unknown if Wilson's hospitalization would affect his appearance opposite Jennifer Aniston in the upcoming 20th Century Fox comedy "Marley & Me."

A Fox spokesman told Daily Variety that "it's a totally inappropriate question at this time."

An out-of-commission Owen also puts a crimp in the promotion of "The Darjeeling Limited." Wilson, along with co-stars Adrien Brody and Jason Schwartzman were scheduled to attend the film's debut at the Venice Film Festival next week. The Fox Searchlight film is scheduled for release next month.
