Wildlife Officers Will Enforce Burning Ban

Aug 27, 02:38 PM

Current Headlines: Officers of the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission will be on the lookout for violations of a statewide open burning ban, in cooperation with the N.C. Division of Forest Resources. The N.C. Division of Forest Resources issued a statewide burning ban Tuesday on all open burning and canceled all burning permits until further notice. To report violators, contact a local ranger district or fire department, or call the commission at (800)-662-7137.

LAKE GASTON SURVEY: Fisheries biologists and creel clerks with the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission will conduct a year-long creel survey on Lake Gaston beginning Saturday. They will interview anglers fishing from boats and along the bank to gather information on how often they fish the lake, the species they target, their catch, harvest and release rates, the amount of money they spend on each trip, and their general opinions about the quality of fishing at the lake. The survey is required as part of the recently issued Federal Energy Regulatory Commission license.
