Stars Fall on Stockton

Current Headlines: STAR students at Stockton Sixth Form College scooped more than 20 Grade As between them.

They are now looking forward to heading off the universities around the country to achieve their ambitions.

Among the successful students was Josephine Nicholas, 18, from Stockton who achieved As in Biology, chemistry, maths, French and an A in AS critical thinking.

Now she is heading to Newcastle University where she will study medicine.

"I am very happy, I didn't know what I was expecting," she said.

"I chose Newcastle University because I like the course and I like the city."

Sascha Graham, 18, from Stockton, achieved As in history, English literature, government and politics and psychology.

She is going to Durham University to study history and politics.

Sascha said: "I'm very pleased and very happy. They were the grades I was hoping for."

Stephen Hornsey, 18, of Norton, gained As in biology, chemistry, maths and physics and is going to Durham University to study biochemisty with molecular biology.

"I was bit surprised," said Stephen after discovering his results.

"They were better than I was expecting.

"I am very interested in the subject I am studying for my degree and Durham is a very good university."

Richard Clark, 18, of Stockton, got As in chemistry, government and politics, maths, further maths and a B in AS-level critical thinking.

St Andrew's University awaits him where he will study chemistry.

"I was pleased, I was hoping for those results.

"I've always been interested in chemistry and St Andrew's is a university that interested me - it's a place that's quite secluded in a small town.

"My family were pleased, it is what we were hoping for."

Marc Etherington, 18, from Stockton, is going to Durham University to study physics after getting As in English literature, further maths, maths, physics and an A at AS-level critical thinking.

"I am pleased, those were the results I wanted to get and I didn't expect to get As in all of them, but I did try my best.

"I like the university. I went to the physics department and thought it was quite good, then I revisited it and I really enjoyed being there."
