Opening for MP3s

Aug 12, 04:21 PM

Current Headlines: UNIVERSAL Music Group, the world's largest music label, has said it will temporarily allow the sale of thousands of its albums and tracks without copy protection.

For the next few months, the likes of Amy Winehouse and the Black Eyed Peas will see their music sold in MP3 format without copy- protection technology.

Universal said it would "analyse such factors as consumer demand, price sensitivity and piracy in regards to the availability of open MP3s".

Earlier this year, rival EMI made a deal with Apple to make its entire catalogue of music available.
