Jul 02, 07:43 AM

Current Headlines: The U.S. military on Monday announced that five military personnel had been killed in Iraq.

One of the soldiers was shot following a bombing attack in western Baghdad that injured two Iraqi soldiers Sunday, the Kuwait News Agency, KUNA, reported.

The military said another soldier was killed Sunday in southern Baghdad in an attack on a patrol, KUNA reported.

Two Army soldiers and a Marine died in combat operation in the Al-Anbar province, the military reported.

They were the first five U.S. troops killed in July, KUNA reported. The agency said 3,583 members of the U.S. forces had been killed since the war in Iraq began in March 2003.
