Rapper's No-Show Frees Accused Mugger

Current Headlines: A woman accused of assaulting rapper Foxy Brown was released from a New York jail after the rapper declined to appear before a grand jury.

The Brooklyn District Attorney's Office said Roshawn Anthony, 23, was released from Riker's Island Thursday because prosecutors were unable to secure an indictment, E! News reported Friday.

Police said Anthony struck Brown in the head with an unknown object this week, and then snatched a Louis Vuitton purse, $500 in cash, credit cards and the hearing aid the rapper has required since 2005.

After initially working with police, Brown -- whose real name is Inga Marchand -- has since denied any confrontation took place.

If Brown changes her mind, prosecutors said they still have six months to bring charges against Anthony from the date the incident occurred.

Anthony is scheduled to return to court Aug. 9.
