Current Headlines: A PRISON officer was yesterday shot dead with his own gun by a tattoed inmate he had escorted to get medical treatment.

Curtis Allgier, 27, then fled the University of Utah health centre in Salt Lake City before carjacking a 4x4 vehicle.

Police chased Allgier, who has a swastika and "skin head" tattooed on his forehead, and stopped him using spikes in the road.

He ran into a restaurant and shot one more person before he was captured.
