Yahoo Buys Rivals.Com to Draw Sports Viewers Briefing: NEW YORK

Current Headlines: Yahoo will buy Rivals.com to add more sports pages aimed at high school and college students. Rivals.com has 150 Web sites focused on baseball and basketball for students, along with recruiting information. They get about two million viewers a month, Yahoo said in a statement.

The move is intended to bolster Yahoo's position as an online destination for sports fans, where it competes with ESPN.com and others. Terms of the deal, which was announced Wednesday, were not disclosed.
