Jun 21, 06:22 PM

Current Headlines: By Beth Gollob, The Daily Oklahoman

Jun. 21--Most Oklahoma hospitals have death rates on par with the national average, according to data released Thursday for the first time ever by the federal government.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services released 30-day mortality rates for heart attack and heart failure on its hospital quality site, hospitalcompare.hhs.gov. The only data collected was among Medicare patients.

According to the data released Thursday, most Oklahoma hospitals rated on par with the national average.

Claremore Regional Hospital was the only hospital reporting worse-than-average death rates. No Oklahoma hospitals rated better than the national average in either the heart failure or heart attack categories.
