Current Headlines: INTERLEAGUE

Orioles 6, Padres 3

Alberto Castillo hit his first home run in more than two years, leading Baltimore in San Diego on Thursday.

The Orioles took 2 of 3 from the National League West-leading Padres. The two wins came after Baltimore fired manager Sam Perlozzo on Monday and replaced him with bullpen coach Dave Trembley on an interim basis.

Castillo, the backup catcher, homered for the first time since April 19, 2005, against Cleveland while with Kansas City. His shot hit just beyond the leftfield corner, giving the Orioles a 3-1 lead.

Orioles starter Erik Bedard (5-4) gave up two runs in six innings. He left after straining his left hamstring.

Rockies 4, Yankees 3

Roger Clemens couldn't gain his 350th win as Colorado completed a three-game sweep of visiting New York.

Matt Holliday's RBI single with one out in the fifth broke a 2-2 tie and chased Clemens, who blew a 2-0 lead.

Clemens (1-2) was trying to become the first major leaguer to win 350 games since Warren Spahn did it for the Milwaukee Braves on Sept. 29, 1963. Clemens gave up solo home runs to Garrett Atkins and Troy Tulowitzki - whose shot went an estimated 445 feet - to erase the Yankees' 2-0 lead in the second.

Rangers 6, Cubs 5

Pinch-hitters Kenny Lofton and Frank Catalanotto singled off the gloves of diving outfielders in the bottom of the ninth inning, producing the winning run for Texas against visiting Chicago.

Catalanotto hit a one-out liner down the rightfield line that Angel Pagan nearly caught, sending Lofton home from second with the winning run.

Lofton started the rally off Bob Howry (3-4) with a leadoff pinch- hit single, a sinking liner to left that Alfonso Soriano hauled in after a diving attempt but couldn't hold when he hit the ground. Adam Melhuse, who had homered earlier, then had a sacrifice bunt.

Dodgers 8, Blue Jays 4

Russell Martin doubled to spark a six-run rally in the eighth inning as Los Angeles won in Toronto.

The Dodgers trailed 3-2 to begin the eighth before mounting a one- out rally against righthander Casey Janssen (2-1).

Nomar Garciaparra greeted Janssen with a single before Jeff Kent doubled off the top of the rightfield wall. Luis Gonzalez was walked intentionally to bring up Martin, who doubled into the rightfield corner, scoring Garciaparra and Kent. Olmedo Saenz followed with a bloop single to center, scoring Gonzalez, before Matt Kemp chased Janssen with an RBI double.

late wednesday

Cardinals 7, Royals 6 Ryan Ludwick homered off Jorge de la Rosa leading off the 14th inning, lifting St. Louis over visiting Kansas City.

Orioles 7, Padres 1 Rookie Jeremy Guthrie shut down San Diego on four hits over eight innings and Baltimore won in San Diego.

Angels 8, Astros 4 Vladimir Guerrero's three-run home run highlighted a six-run seventh inning as Los Angeles beat visiting Houston.

Mariners 7, Pirates 0 Jeff Weaver threw a four-hitter as Seattle beat visiting Pittsburgh.
