Current Headlines: INTERLEAGUE

Blue Jays 12, Dodgers 1

Frank Thomas hit his 497th career home run, Roy Halladay won his third consecutive start for host Toronto.

Gregg Zaun and Matt Stairs also homered - back-to-back - for the Blue Jays, who scored a season-high eight runs in the second inning.

Thomas had the biggest hit, a grand slam that chased Dodgers starter Hong-Chih Kuo (1-2) after just 1

u2154 innings. The grand slam was Thomas' second of the season and the 10th of his career.

Indians 10, Phillies 6

Casey Blake put Cleveland ahead with a two-run single in an eight- run sixth inning and the Indians beat visiting Philadelphia.

C.C. Sabathia (10-2) pitched six innings to help Cleveland take 2 of 3 in the series and remain tied with Detroit for the AL Central lead. Sabathia joined Josh Beckett of Boston and John Lackey of the Los Angeles Angels as the majors' only 10-game winners.

Jon Lieber (3-5) left due to a strained right ankle after yielding Blake's hit between short and third that put Cleveland ahead 5-4.

Red Sox 11, Braves 0

Julian Tavarez pitched seven scoreless innings after Boston homered three times in the first two innings in Atlanta.

J.D. Drew drove the fourth pitch of the game into the centerfield seats, a sign of things to come for the Red Sox. They had five homers in all, and 10 of their 15 hits were for extra bases. The Braves were shut out by the Red Sox for the second night in a row and haven't scored in 19 innings.

Tigers 8, Nationals 4

Detroit pounded Washington's pitching staff again, giving Jeremy Bonderman his eighth straight victory.

Detroit exploded for five runs in the sixth against Washington's bullpen. Carlos Guillen had two hits, including a fourth-inning golf- swing home run. Guillen (6 for 12) was one of four Tigers to bat .500 or better in the series. Bonderman (8-0) has won eight straight starts after beginning the year with five no decisions.

Twins 6, Mets 2

Torii Hunter hit a two-run homer and Scott Baker pitched five effective innings to help Minnesota win in New York.

Joe Mauer also drove in two runs for Minnesota, which won 2 of 3 in its first series at Shea Stadium since 2002.

Carlos Beltran went 3 for 4 and singled in a run for the Mets, who have lost 13 of 16. New York has dropped six straight series since it took 2 of 3 games against San Francisco from May 29-31.

Rockies 6, Yankees 1

Jeff Francis struck out a career-best nine in seven solid innings, and Matt Holliday homered and drove in three runs to lead host Colorado.

By taking the first two games, the Rockies won a club record sixth straight series and improved to 8-0-1 in their last nine series, the best stretch in franchise history. They're a major league-best 19-7 since May 22.

Marlins 5, White Sox 4

Pinch-hitter Jason Wood hit a three-run homer off closer Bobby Jenks in the eighth inning, and visiting Florida sent Chicago to its 19th loss in 24 games.

Chicago starter Jon Garland had given up just two hits entering the eighth with the White Sox leading 2-1. But Aaron Boone opened the inning with a single and shortstop Juan Uribe made his second error, missing Garland's throw at second on Brett Carroll's bunt.

Jenks relieved and Wood hit his third pitch over the fence in left.

Diamondbacks 7, Devil Rays 4

Chad Tracy and Eric Byrnes each hit a three-run homer, and host Arizona defeated Tampa Bay.

Micah Owings won his fourth straight decision and Byrnes went 4 for 5 with a double and two singles.

Byrnes matched a franchise mark with hits in seven consecutive at- bats going back to Tuesday night.

Athletics 5, Reds 3

Nick Swisher drew a bases-loaded walk to tie the game in the seventh inning, then Eric Chavez followed with a sacrifice fly to lift host Oakland.

That saved the day for A's ace Dan Haren, who won his ninth straight decision and third consecutive start despite giving up two home runs in a game for the second time this year. Shannon Stewart added a solo homer in the eighth. Jack Cust's two-run shot in the fourth put the A's on the board.
