Current Headlines: n Melina Butterworth, a graduating senior majoring in geography in the College of Natural Resources at Virginia Tech, has received the Alumni Award for Outstanding Scholarship in the Department of Fisheries and Wildlife, as well as in the College of Natural Resources.

Salli Johnson, a graduating senior majoring in forestry in the College of Natural Resources at Virginia Tech, has also received the Alumni Award for Outstanding Scholarship in the Department of Fisheries and Wildlife, as well as in the College of Natural Resources.

n Allison Sullivan, a rising junior majoring in geography in the College of Natural Resources at Virginia Tech, has received the Outstanding Sophomore Scholar Award.

The Chi Chapter of Xi Sigma Pi, the National Natural Resources Honorary Society, began the Outstanding Sophomore Scholar Award in 1966 to recognize the sophomore with the highest quality credit average after three semesters in the College of Natural Resources.

n Anne Timm, a student majoring in fisheries and wildlife in the College of Natural Resources at Virginia Tech, recently received the Richard Hunter Cross Jr. Scholarship.

The Richard Hunter Cross Jr. Scholarship is awarded to graduate students in the Fisheries and Wildlife Sciences Department.

n Jessica Homyack, a graduate student in fisheries and wildlife in the College of Natural Resources at Virginia Tech, recently received the Georgia-Pacific Scholarship.

Georgia-Pacific is a manufacturer and distributor of tissue, paper, packaging, building products, pulp and related chemicals.

n Brian Perkins, a graduate student in forest products in the College of Natural Resources at Virginia Tech, recently received the Appalachian Hardwood Manufacturer Scholarship.

Appalachian Hardwood Manufacturers Inc. specializes in manufacturing hardwood lumber from the Appalachian region of North America.

n Richard Johnson, a graduate student in macromolecular science and engineering in the College of Engineering at Virginia Tech, recently named the Wood-Based Composites Center National Starch and Chemical Fellow.

The National Starch and Chemical Co. is a manufacturer of adhesives, specialty synthetic polymers, electronic and engineering materials, and specialty food and industrial starches.

n Jung Ki Hong, a graduate student in forest products in the College of Natural Resources at Virginia Tech, recently named the Wood-Based Composites Center Dynea Fellow.

Dynea is a major supplier of wood adhesives for the wood composite industry and the award recognizes and honors the most outstanding research in the field of wood and wood products conducted by graduate students.
