N Korea Funds Deposited in Pyongyang Bank Account in Russia - Hill

Tokyo, 19 June: The North Korean funds that had been frozen at a bank in Macao were deposited in a Pyongyang bank account in Russia on Tuesday, Christopher Hill, US assistant secretary of state for East Asian and Pacific affairs, said.

"To my understanding, today it was deposited in the North Korean bank account in Russia," the US nuclear negotiator told reporters upon arrival at Tokyo's Haneda airport.

He is visiting Tokyo for talks with his Japanese counterpart on the way forward in the stalled six-party talks on North Korea's nuclear programmes.

Hill also said the United States is looking at various forms of energy assistance to North Korea but ruled out giving it cash.
