Current Headlines: By Becks goes to Hollywood with a Really big finish

The England star could not have wished for a better ending to his dramatic career with Real Madrid as his side clinched the championship.

Sure, he would have enjoyed scoring the goals that took Real to the La Liga crown last night, but clinching his first winners medal since moving to Madrid from Manchester United four years ago, was the only thing that mattered.

And that he did thanks to Madrid coming from behind to beat Real Mallorca at the Bernabeu 3-1.

Beckham, struggling with an ankle injury, was actually taken off when his side were 1-0 down. It was a brave decision by coach Fabio Capello, but it proved to be inspired with the English ace's replacement Jose Antonio Reyes, on loan from Arsenal, scoring twice to begin crazy celebrations all over Spain's capital city.

In between those goals from Reyes there was an own goal from Angelos Basinas to give the home side the win meaning nearest rivals Barcelona, who won 5-1 at Gimnastic, just missed out on glory.

Barca finished with the same number of points as Real and had a superior goal difference but in La Liga if teams are level on points, it goes down to a head-to-head and Capello's team had a superior record in their meetings with the Nou Camp men.

And so Beckham, who was supported on the night by wife Victoria and his sons, plus best buddy Tom Cruise and his wife Katie, can join Major League Soccer side LA Galaxy on an almighty high.

Beckham said: "I couldn't have dreamt it any better. It's been about winning the title for the last six months - and we've deserved it.

"It meant the world to have everyone that supported me throughout my career in the stadium - my whole family, my wife, my mum and dad, my sister and children. It's incredible."

What a turnaround football's biggest star has enjoyed recently. He has made his comeback with England and remember earlier in the season, it seemed as though he would never play for Real Madrid again when he decided to join LA Galaxy in a multi-million dollar deal.

However, Capello recalled Beckham and admitted last month he had never seen him "in such good form either mentally or physically."

Beckham played superbly in the latter months of the campaign as Real fought like tigers to get back into title contention.

And although he may not have been the key figure last night, he was one of the most instrumental players in Real's 30th title success.

Ruud van Nistelrooy was the main man throughout the season scoring goals galore and as Beckham and Brazilian hero Roberto Carlos leave the Bernabeu, the Spanish giants are now intent on pairing the Dutchman with pound(s)40 million rated AC Milan star Kaka. But for Beckham, he's off to Hollywood.
