Hilton's Mental Demons

Jun 12, 01:36 AM

Current Headlines: HEIRESS Paris Hilton said she was "severely depressed" in an interview from jail.

Hilton, who was ordered back to prison after one day at home, branded it a "horrible experience" but added she would now "like to make a difference".

She had been sent home due to medical problems and has been housed at a special unit for medical and psychiatric tests since being sent back.

Talking about her first stint in jail, she said: "I was not eating or sleeping. I was severely depressed and felt as if I was in a cage. It was a horrible experience."

The interview happened when Hilton called her mum, who had ABC reporter Barbara Walters on another line.

When told Walters was on the phone, Hilton said she wanted to talk to the reporter herself.

Hilton then rang Walters, reversing the charges and they had a brief conversation, which is not believed to have been taped.

Hilton told Walters: "I used to act dumb. That act is no longer cute.

"Now, I would like to make a difference. God has given me this new chance."

Hilton's sister Nicky and ex-boyfriend Stavros Niarchos visited her on Sunday.

As Nicky left the jail, she said: "She's being strong." But according to reports, Hilton has been "fragile" since her return to jail.
