Apple to Offer Safari Browser for Windows

Current Headlines: Apple Inc. said it would make its Safari Web browser available to Windows-based computers widening the California-based company's rivalry with Microsoft.

Steven Jobs, Apple co-founder and chief executive, made the announcement during the company's annual World Wide Developers Conference.

Jobs said Safari would have twice the performance of Microsoft's browser, Internet Explorer, The New York Times reported. He said he was confident that Apple could increase its market share -- now at 5 percent -- against the more dominant software company, noting that most of the half-billion downloads of Apple's iTunes software were by Windows users.
