Current Headlines: THE Church of England yesterday threatened legal action against Sony after it used Manchester Cathedral without permission as the backdrop to an ultra-violent computer game.

Church leaders said Sony's "desecration" of the place of worship in their PlayStation3 game, Resistance: Fall of Man, was "sick" and "sacrilegious". They want the game removed from shop shelves.

The Bishop of Manchester, the Rt Rev Nigel McCulloch, said: "This is beyond belief."
