Current Headlines: Roger Clemens gave up three earned runs and five hits in six innings Saturday as the New York Yankees ripped Pittsburgh 9-3.

The 45-year-old, seven-time Cy Young Award winner was making his long-awaited first start in 2007.

Adam LaRoche put the Pirates on top with an RBI single to start the first, but the Yankees scored three times in their half of the inning to give him a 3-1 lead.

The rest was gravy for Clemens (1-0), who walked two batters and struck out seven.

Alex Rodriguez drove in two runs, while five other Yankees had one RBI and two runs scored on errors. Robinson Cano had three hits, while Johnny Damon and Bobby Abreu had two hits each for the Yankees, who have won five in a row.

Jack Wilson added a two-run double for the Pirates, who were held to six hits in their second straight loss.

The loser was Paul Maholm (2-9).
