Tehran, 10 June: Foreign Ministry spokesman Mohammad Ali Hoseyni said on Sunday [10 June] that Iran has no information about a former FBI agent, Robert Levinson, who Washington says went missing while visiting Kish island of Iran.

Hoseyni told domestic and foreign reporters at his weekly press conference that Tehran has declared the issue through a formal letter to Swiss ambassador who is in charge of US interest section in Iran.

On upcoming meeting of foreign ministers of the Caspian Sea states which is due to be held in Tehran on 20 June, he said the confab is to review legal issues of the Caspian Sea.

On US refusal to issue visa for Deputy Health Minister in charge of Research Dr Hoseyn Malek-Afzali to attend a UN award ceremony for population control programme, he said that the US proved illegible to be the United Nations host country.

On US allocation of special fund for subversive operations to against the Islamic Republic of Iran, he said the US administration is required to give explanation about their plans for sabotage operations in Iran.

As per a bilateral agreement in Algiers in 1981, the United States has undertaken not to meddle in Iranian internal affairs.

On release of five Iranian diplomats kidnapped by US forces in Iraq, he said, "Iran strongly pursues the case through all legal means" and called on the Iraqi government and the US officials to release them as soon as possible.

On continued cooperation between Iran and IAEA, he said the Islamic Republic of Iran continues cooperation with the agency to ensure Iranian commitment to Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and Safeguards of the UN nuclear agency.

Hoseyni strongly rebuffed allegations on cooperation between Iran and Turkey for suppressing the Kurdish rebels of Turkey moving across Turkey-Iraq border.

He said that Iran has friendly relations with the Persian Gulf states and that they have no concern about Iran's nuclear programme.
