Current Headlines: The founder of Apple, Steve Jobs, who routinely criticizes Microsoft for mimicking his company's advances, paid Microsoft's chairman, Bill Gates, a compliment as they shared a stage for the first time in more than 20 years Wednesday night.

"Microsoft learned how to partner with people really well," Jobs said during a panel discussion with Gates in Carlsbad, California. "If Apple had a little bit more of that in its DNA, it would have served it extremely well. I don't think Apple learned that until a few decades later."

Jobs said that because he and Steve Wozniak, the other Apple founder, built "the whole banana," both the software and hardware, Apple did not learn as well as Microsoft how to work with other companies.
