2 S. Utah Teachers Are Honored

Current Headlines: Two southern Utah teachers have been lauded by President Bush for excellent math and science teaching.

Science teacher Antinette Haggerty of Cross Hollows Intermediate in Cedar City, and math teacher Andrea Mathews of Sandstone Elementary in St. George received the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching.

Haggerty is an Iron School District science specialist and member of the district science committee. Mathews is certified by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards and a mentor teacher for higher education institutions.

Each received $10,000 from the National Science Foundation.
