Detroit, MI (Sports Network) - Magglio Ordonez went 4-for-4 with two doubles, three RBI and three runs scored as Detroit produced its first shutout win of the season by pounding Los Angeles, 12-0, in the rubber match of a three-game series at Comerica Park.

"My swing is really good right now," Ordonez noted. "I'm swinging at strikes, I've been more patient. I don't try to do too much, just stay patient and wait for my pitch."

Carlos Guillen slammed two home runs and drove in five for the Tigers, who have won two straight and five of six. Gary Sheffield had two hits including a solo homer and scored three times, while Curtis Granderson added a pair of hits, scored two runs, and knocked in one.

Jeremy Bonderman (3-0) hurled eight shutout innings, scattering four hits, striking out six and walking five in his first start since coming off the 15- day disabled list.

Ervin Santana (3-6) allowed seven hits and eight runs over 3 2/3 innings in the start, and Chris Bootcheck didn't fare much better in relief, responsible for five hits and four runs -- two earned -- over 3 1/3 frames.

"He took a half step backward today," said Angels manager Mike Scioscia of Santana. "He had no command and he paid the price against a great hitting team like the Tigers."

Chone Figgins, Orlando Cabrera, Casey Kotchman and Jose Molina all singled for the Angels, who have dropped two in a row after a six-game win streak. LA was blanked for the third time this season, and the first since a 3-0 loss at Oakland on April 18.

The Angels loaded the bases with no outs in the first on a pair of walks and a single, but Gary Matthews grounded into the rare 1-2-3 double-play, then Kotchman was retired on a fly to center to end the inning.

Detroit picked up four in the bottom of the frame. Placido Polanco was hit by a pitch and moved to second on Sheffield's base hit. Ordonez drove in Polanco with a single up the middle, and Guillen followed with a towering shot to right which boosted the lead to 4-0.

Sheffield yanked a ball into the seats in left for a 5-0 game in the third, and Ordonez came home with two outs in the frame on Mike Rabelo's sacrifice fly.

Ordonez brought two more runs home in the fourth on a two-out double to the wall in left-center, and Granderson's RBI double in the next inning pushed the lead to 9-0. Polanco followed with a run-scoring triple, and Guillen's second homer of the day, a two-run shot, made it 12-0 by the sixth.

Bonderman did his part to preserve the shutout from there, and Wlifredo Ledezma completed the task with a perfect ninth inning.

"Obviously that's a good one for us, an ugly game for the other team," said Tigers manager Jim Leyland. "I thought we did a really good job this series against a really good pitching staff. We just faced three real good pitchers and obviously we didn't see them at their best. It'll be a little different when we see them out there next time."

Game Notes
