Current Headlines: MOSCOW. May 22 (Interfax) - The Russian Natural Resources Ministry plans to gradually increase economic sanctions for burning associated gases, Russian Natural Resources Minister told the Russian News Service on Tuesday. "We have been preparing a gradual increase, because our goal is to solve the problem, not to make money," the minister said. The minister stressed that associated gas is burnt where there is no infrastructure to transport it. "We must pay attention to the problem, and that work began a year ago," the minister said. Only 25% of the 60 billion cubic meters of associated gases produced in Russia is processed today, he said. (c) 2007 Daily News Bulletin; Moscow - English.
