Shakeup in Minn. U.S. Attorney's Office

Apr 06, 02:22 PM

Current Headlines: Four top assistants to Minnesota U.S. Attorney Rachel Paulose have resigned their management posts.

Sources told the St. Paul Pioneer Press the resignations by career staffers on Thursday were apparently in response to her dictatorial management style and general lack of management experience.

There has been no official statement on the resignations, although Paulose acknowledged Thursday the resignations of three staffers. They came after despite a visit by a high-level Justice Department official Thursday.

The four managers stepping down are Paulose's first assistant, the chief of the criminal division, the chief of the civil division and the acting administrative officer.

Sources say the four will return to prosecuting cases.

At the age of 34, Paulose, a former special assistant to U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzalez, is currently the youngest U.S. attorney and the first woman to hold the post in Minnesota.

A graduate of Yale Law School and the University of Minnesota, she served as an assistant federal prosecutor from 1999 to 2002 before going into private practice.

The resignations were Paulose's second change in administration since taking over the U.S. attorney's office last February.
