Don Imus Apologizes for on-Air Comment

Current Headlines: Radio personality Don Imus has apologized for calling the women who play for New Jersey's Rutgers University women's basketball team nappy-headed ho's.

Imus made the comment during his Wednesday morning radio show sponsored by CBS Radio and MSNBC, The New York Times reported.

MSNBC, which broadcasts Imus's show on television, issued an apology and noted that the program is not a production of the network.

CBS Radio also issued an apology, stating: We are disappointed by Imus's actions earlier this week which we find completely inappropriate.

We fully agree that a sincere apology was called for and will continue to monitor the program's content going forward, the statement added.

If the networks seemed apologetic, Imus himself was even sorrier. On Friday, the printed version of his apology, which he made during his show Friday morning and termed his remarks thoughtless and stupid, appeared twice on his home page at msnbc.com.
