The Humane Society offers an opportunity for a sneak preview of Theatre Memphis' regional premiere of "Bark! The Musical."

The event will take place at the Humane Society's new facility on 935 Farm Road, Thursday at 7 p.m. The chefs of Sam's Town will provide finger foods, and there will be a cash bar available. There is no charge for this event, but donations are always needed and appreciated. Children are welcome.

Supporters will get to meet the Humane Society's four-legged friends who need homes and hear "Bark!" cast members perform a few of the show's signature songs. The show officially opens at Theatre Memphis on April 27, and continues through May 13. "Bark!" is a musical collage, entirely from a dog's point of view, told and sung by actors portraying dogs.

"We are excited to be able to partner with Theatre Memphis to help preview their upcoming production of "Bark!" and showcase our new facility. Bringing live theater to our new building is one of the many unique events we will present as we try to attract more people to visit us and fall in love with one of the 'furry friends' in our care," said Ginger Morgan, president of the Humane Society of Memphis and Shelby County.

"This musical is the final production workshop before its New York debut later in 2007," said Debbie Litch, executive producer, Theatre Memphis.

Since 1933, the Humane Society of Memphis and Shelby County has been providing shelter, food and medical care for thousands of unwanted, neglected and abused animals. It also works to foster humanity and gentleness toward animals, and promote responsible pet ownership through education. The expenses for the society's services and programs are funded 100 percent by private donations and bequests from individuals and businesses, grants from foundations and trusts, and various fund-raising events. The Humane Society receives no funds from state, city or county governments.
