Boys Missing Four Months Found in Lake

Apr 02, 07:52 AM

Current Headlines: The bodies of two young boys missing from a Minnesota reservation since November have been found frozen in ice in a lake not far from their home.

Volunteer searchers using dogs found the bodies of Tristan White, 4, and Avery Stately, 2, in First Thunder's Lake, about a half mile from the boys' home in Red Lake, Minn., FBI special agent-in-charge Ralph Boelter told reporters in Minneapolis Sunday night.

The boys were last seen playing on Nov. 22, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reported Monday.

Boetler said dogs picked up a scent on the southern part of the lake and the boys were found partially floating in the northern part of the lake. The boys were identified by their clothing and autopsies were pending, the report said.

He said there had been no determination whether foul play was involved.

The search for the boys officially ended after five days in November, but volunteers persisted, the report said. Divers also searched the lake where the boys were found in November, but Tribal Chairman Floyd Jourdain said the lake has a lot of mud and weeds.

So, it's not unimaginable that they would sink, get entangled or stuck in the mud, he said.
