Singing for Another Week: Chesapeake's Chris Richardson Safely Sailed Through Wednesday Night's Voti

Mar. 29--After his close call last week, Chesapeake's Chris Richardson sailed through the voting-results show on "American Idol" Wednesday night.

But it was the final appearance for Chris Sligh from Greenville, S.C.

Phil Stacey, who has ties to Hampton Roads through his Navy career, and Haley Scarnato from San Antonio, Texas, joined Sligh in the bottom three vote-getters following Tuesday night's performance show.

Although Sligh was sent home, fans will have the opportunity to see him perform again. All of the Top 10 contestants will participate in the "American Idol" tour after the show's finale.

"American Idol" is about singing, but it was contestant Sanjaya Malakar's Tuesday night mohawk that has had people talking. Show host Ryan Seacrest even introduced the program wearing a mohawk wig.

This week's special guest mentor and artist Gwen Stefani performed her latest single, "The Sweet Escape" with singer Akon.

"American Idol" returns at 8 p.m. Tuesday, when the remaining nine contestants will perform.
